Facilities Overview
You don’t have to be a star athlete to take advantage of the services offered at the Physical Fitness Center or Melaven PFC. Classes, activities and equipment are offered daily for all fitness levels. |
Equipment
The PFC and Melaven PFC are both equipped with selectorized weight equipment and free weights. Ellipticial machines, treadmills, stairclimbers, arm bike, and lifecycles (upright and recumbent) are all available for use. |
Fitness Coordinators
Whether you are new to working out, looking to take workouts to a higher level or just need motivation during your exercise routine, certified fitness coordinators on staff are ready to assist you. The coordinators are free of charge and are available on a first come first serve basis or by appointment. |
Classes
Sports and Fitness offers two classes on a weekly basis; Spinning and Instructor’s Choice. Spin classes are a great way to burn calories and get into aerobic shape during a quick 45 minute workout. Instructor’s Choice Class varies from week to week and offers activities such as Pilates, Kickboxing, Power Stretching and Group Strength. |
FAME
Family Activity and Motivational Exercise program is aimed at providing spouses with the opportunity to use the Melaven PFC with CYSS providing on-site childcare. For a minimal fee, spouses can utilize morning child care sessions with a free instructional exercise class. FAME is offered only during the school calendar year. |
Swim Center
Melaven PFC is home to a swim center complete with eight lanes and diving boards. The pool, monitored by lifeguards, is available for lap swim, open swim and lessons. |
Ice Rink
The PFC boasts an indoor ice rink which offers recreational hockey, skate lessons, open skate time and ice skates for rent. The ice rink can be rented and is a great place to hold birthday parties and other group functions. |
Sports Complex and
Intramurals
Sports and Fitness also has an outdoor sports complex with softball fields, tennis courts, soccer and flag football fields. Many intramural sports are hosted by Sports and Fitness including, but not limited to, volleyball, basketball, flag-football, racquetball, golf, skeet, hockey, softball and soccer. |
Tanning
The PFC offers two stand up tanning hexes as well as a wide variety of tanning lotions and accelerators for purchase. |
Sauna and Steam Room
When you are done working out head to the locker room to relax. Both men’s and women’s locker rooms at the PFC come complete with a sauna and steam room. At Melaven PFC each locker room has a dry sauna room. |
